Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. An out-focus-photograph of Frank Beckett standing next to the Baby Grand Chevrolet while stopping in Lebec. The Chevrolet is parked along the right frame and is viewed from the side; it faces towards the back of the image. Frank Beckett stands to the left of the car. He faces towards the right but looks to the left while he rests his hands to his hips and smokes a pipe. A dirt road extends through the town behind him. It stretches on an angle from the lower left corner and up towards the right. A large tree stands on the far side of the road at left. A few cars are parked beneath it. Buildings line the far side of the road beyond the tree. Cars are parked in front of the buildings and a car drives down the road towards the camera. In the far distance, mountains stretch across the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1260. Lebec, Calif. About 1923. I had our Baby Grand Chevrolet, and took Frank Beckett, Wilfrid Cline Jr and Elizabeth West to Sherwin Creek, Long Valley, thence over Tioga to Yosemite and then home. Here we are at Lebec in the Tejon Pass. 1. Our car under the oak trees. 2. Frank Beckett standing beside the car. 2 films
