Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the miner's tent pitched in the West, Beckett and Cline party's campsite in Yosemite Valley. The campsite sits in a clearing on the valley floor. At right, the miner's tent is pitched in the near distance. To the left of it, a table stands. It is piled with bundles of bed linens. At the far left side of the camp, H. H. West's Baby Grand Chevrolet is parked beneath a large pine. The car is viewed at an angle from the rear. Two men stand in front of the back end of the car (possibly Wilfrid Cline, Jr. and Frank Beckett?) and look towards the camera. A few large pines stand along the left edge of the image next to the car. Trees line the back edge of the campsite and occupy the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1268. Yosemite. About 1923.
