Description

Photograph, from left to right, of Frank Beckett, Wilfrid Cline, Jr. and Elizabeth West at Inspiration Point and looking out over Yosemite Valley. The trio stands huddled together at center with their backs to the camera. Frank Beckett stands leftmost and rests both hands to his hips. He faces towards the right, but looks into the distance at center. Standing in the middle is Wilfrid Cline, Jr. He hunches over slightly as he appears to look through a viewing scope propped up in front of him. He aims the scope into the distance and towards the left. Elizabeth West stand to the immediate right of Wilfrid. She faces towards the left, but is partially obscured by Wilfrid. A pathway extends to the right of where the group stands in the foreground. Down the path and on the right, a tall tree stands with a sign tacked to it which reads, "INSPIRATION POINT." In front of where the group faces, brush lines the pathway and appears to drop off the edge. At left and in the far distance a vista of the valley is visible. Behind the large rock formation at left, Half Dome rises and is barely visible near the left edge. Text from negative sleeve: 1268. Yosemite. About 1923.
