Two women sit on a bench, both with their hands to their mouths and their purses on their laps. The woman on the right wears a fur collar. There is another person sitting on the bench at the right of the photograph. The back of another bench is behind the bench in the foreground and people sit on that one, as well. Two women lean over a register that is placed on a wooden plank propped up on the back of the bench. A sign at the top of a wooden post reads, "Montgomery." There are other people in the background, as well as trees. Text from negative sleeve: 1365. Iowa State picnic, Lincoln Park, Los Angeles, Feb. 24, 1940. 1. L to R: Mr Kelly. Charles Wheeler. Wheeler told me that he lived across the creek from Hank Palmer, who was Sheriff, and lived at the jail on the creek.
