A landscaped monument garden spans the lower half of the image. Statues and monuments line walkways through the space in the near distance at center and right. In the distance at far right, Salt Lake Temple (partial view) rises along the right frame. Trees line the back of the garden. The Mormon Tabernacle peeks through the trees in the background at left. Text from negative sleeve: 1584. Yellowstone trip 1942. Salt Lake City, Utah. Sunday June 21, 1942. 1. At left, the Mormon Tabernacle thru under the trees. At right, the Temple The tabernacle was closed to the public, owing to a bomb being found in it one day. Closed for duration of the war. Beautiful grounds. 2. Escorted group of tourists in the Temple grounds. Mertie West turns to look back at camera. 3. We drove out to Saltair to see Great Salt Lake. The pavilion was a mile from the lake. Lake is evaporating. We never got near the lake. Sign at the end of a wooden wharf where pavilion in located. 3 films.
