Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of a bridge crossing the Burnt River in Huntington, Oregon. At left, a bridge enters the frame and stretches back towards center. It crosses over the Burnt River, which flows beneath the bridge in the near distance at right. The road continues past the bridge and curves around a slope at left before disappearing. Posted in front of the right side of the bridge is a signpost. It stands in the near distance at center and reads, "BURNT RIVER." Beyond the road and the river, mountains rise in the distance, sloping up towards the right. Text from negative sleeve: 1598. Yellowstone trip 1942. Saturday, June 27, 1942. 1. 2. Two views of a waterwheel near Caldwell, Idaho. H.H.West blowing a huge dandelion top. 2 films. 3. An Oregon Tail marker near Huntington, Oregon, where we leave the Snake River. 3. Burnt River bridge. We crossed it about 5 times - crossed Burnt River. Father says they crossed it 13 times with the covered wagon train. The old Oregon trail went thru this gap in the bottom of which ran Burnt River. 4. An old log cabin along the road. 4 films.
