Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Distant view of Mertie West standing next to H. H. West's Buick that is parked off the road near a grove of pines. The road passes across the foreground on a curved, upward angle from the lower right corner to the left. Off to the right side of the road at center, H. H. West's Buick is parked. It is viewed at an angle from the rear, facing slightly left. Mertie West stands to the left of the car, between the open front and suicide rear passenger doors. She looks to the camera. Behind her and the car, a grove of tall pines stands and stretches across the background. Text from negative sleeve: 1599. Yellowstone trip 1942. Saturday June 27, 1942. 1. Oregon Trail marker at Emigrant Springs. 2. We stop at Emigrant Springs in the pines to eat our lunch. Lot of water still running thru the public camp, that it now is. 3. H.H.West and Buick at Summit of Umatilla (Blue) Mountains. Snake river in distance. A wonderful view. Father specially mentions the view in his narrative. 4.
