Photograph of 2 servicemen standing in front of the quarters of H. H. West, Jr. while stationed at Dutch Harbor during World War II. A walkway of wooden slats enters frame at left and stretches through the center of the image on an upward angle towards the right. It then extends back to the left towards the front door of the Quonset hut-style barracks. Two servicemen stand on the wood planks just in front of the door. The man at left stands on the landing in front of the door and props a foot up on a wood stick in front of him. The other stands a step lower and to the right. Both look to the camera. The front of the barracks stands behind them to the left. It is viewed at an angle from the front and the side; it faces right. The corrugated sheet metal body and roof of the building extends back to the left and out-of-frame. Snow-covered mountains rise in the distance at right.
