Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of a uniformed servicemen standing in front of his quarters while stationed at Dutch Harbor during World War II. A walkway of wooden slats enters frame from the lower left corner and stretches through the image on an upward angle towards the right. It then extends back to the left towards the front door of the Quonset hut-style barracks. A serviceman stands on the walkway in front of and running parallel to the barracks. He stands at center and looks to the camera while dressed in uniform. The front of the barracks stands behind and to the left of him. It is viewed at an angle from the front and faces right. Snow-covered mountains rise in the distance at center and right. Text from negative sleeve: 2025.
