Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white. Photograph of a few people strolling along the dock in Valdez, Alaska. The dock spans the width of the image as it stretches on an upward angle from right to left. In the near distance, a man (center) and a woman (right) walk one behind the other along the dock and towards the right. To the left of them, a woman stands on the dock with her back to the camera. Behind them, a wooden building stands on the right side of the dock. It is viewed at an angle from the front and faces left. A large sign stretches across the top of structure. Most of it is not legible, but at the center of the sign, it seems to read, "VALDEZ [...] THE RICHARDSON [...]." A truck and other vehicles are parked on the dock to the left of the building. Mountains rise in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 2150. Color. Alaska Trip. Valdez, Aug.9, 1946. 1. L to R: Honor Kempton. Frances Wells. 2. H. H. West. 3.
