A poorly lit photograph of visitors to Stanley Park Zoo gathering around one of the animal cages. A woman walks through the foreground along the right edge. A wide walkway extends back on an angle from right to left. In the near distance at center, a throng of people stand on the near side of a fence. All stand with their backs to the camera as they face towards a cage. The cage sits on the other side of the fence and stretches back on an angle, parallel to the walkway. Mertie West walks behind the spectators. She stands, left-of-center, and faces the camera as she carries a coat. A girl walking through the foreground at left looks to the camera.
