Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white. An out-of-focus and poorly-exposed photograph of the United States Supreme Court Building, as viewed at a sharp angle from the south. East Capitol Street NE stretches across the bottom edge. A car drives down the street, towards the left. First Street NE is barely visible stretching back in the lower left corner. On the distant street corner, hedges and trees line both streets. Beyond the hedges, the west facade of the Supreme Court Building rises, off-center to the right. The neoclassical building is viewed at an angle from the front and the side, facing left. A columned portico juts forward from the center of the building. It is capped by a sculpted pediment. The building's wings stretch out to either side of the west porch. Two sculpted, seated figures extend out from the porch and flank it. Nearby buildings are visible in the background at left. Four punched holes line the bottom edge at right.
