An out-of-focus and poorly-lit or poorly-exposed photograph of Mertie West standing at a street curb outside the Methodist Church she attended while visiting New York City. The sidewalk she stands upon enters from the left side of the bottom frame and extends straight back into the distance. In the near distance, Mertie West stands at the sidewalk's edge, left-of-center. She stands in profile, facing right, but turns her head towards camera. Behind her, at left, other pedestrians walk down the sidewalk in the distance. To the right of Mertie, a wide street enters frame from the right side of the bottom edge and extends back towards center. Dozens of cars travel along the street. Buildings and skyscrapers line both sides of the street as it recedes into the background. Four punched holes line the top edge at left. Text from negative sleeve: 2348.
