Mertie Whitaker became H. H. West's second wife in the 1920's. Otto and Guy (George Guy Whitaker) were her brothers.
Mertie Whitaker perches on a couch with her brothers, Otto and Guy, and the Brown sisters. There is a pillow on the floor, as well as a rug. One of the Brown sisters is sitting behind Mertie. Otto leans on one elbow. A portrait of Mertie hangs above the couch and another picture hangs at the right. There is wallpaper on the wall and a plant in the corner.
