Lexington Street enters frame along the bottom edge and stretches back on an angle to the left. On the right side of the street, a brick building rises along the right edge. To the left of the building, Mertie West stands, right-of-center, on the sidewalk at the intersection of Lexington Street and Monument Square. Monument Square passes behind her. At the far corner, wrought-iron fencing lines the perimeter of Bunker Hill at center. In the distance, right-of-center, the Bunker Hill Monument obelisk rises to the sky.
