Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. NRHP reference # 72000144 (Boston Common) According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white. An out-of-focus photograph of Mertie West standing on the wide sidewalk lining Boston Common on Tremont Street. The sidewalk extends beyond the width of the image. It enters frame from the bottom edge and stretches back on an angle to the left. Mertie West stands in the near distance at center and looks to the camera. Behind her, pedestrians walk down the sidewalk. Cars park to the right of the sidewalk, along Tremont Street. They face towards the right. Buildings line the right side of Tremont Street as it stretches into the background at right. In the distance at center, the steeple of Park Street Church is visible. Four punched holes line the bottom left edge. Text from negative sleeve: 2334. COLOR Eastern trip October 1947. Boston. 1 Paul Revere's house.
