Photograph, from left to right, of Mertie West and a female caretaker at the Bunker Hill Monument conversing inside the monument's lodge. The cracked and tiled floor of the lodge's interior stretches across the bottom edge and back through the image. In the near distance at center, Mertie West and a caretaker chat. Mertie stands in profile at center, facing right. The woman she speaks with stands to the right of Mertie and leans back on a desk to the right her. The interior space is sparse in decor. A few chairs sit against the side walls. Several paintings hang from the walls as well. Pilasters embellish the interior's corners. Bright light filters in from a door and window inset into the back wall. The door stands open behind and to the left of Mertie. The base of the Bunker Hill Monument's obelisk is visible beyond the door. A lattice-pane window to the right of the door allows light to stream into the lodge. Both the door and the window are capped by pediments.
