Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Plymouth Rock, as viewed from above. The camera looks down towards Plymouth Rock, which sits in the foreground, off-center to the left. An inscription in the rock reads, "1620." The rock sits on a beach, but is surrounded by a protective structure. The structure's visible walls stand at right and across the back of the image. Across the back of the image, a low, stone wall enters frame at left and extends to the right. Atop the wall, decorative guardrails line a viewing platform. At right, an arched and gated barrier sits between the rock and Plymouth Bay. Three carved stones sit beneath the fence, elevating it above the ground. Through the fence, the water of Plymouth Bay laps onto shore. NRHP reference # 70000680 Text from negative sleeve: 2359.
