Description

A sidewalk stretches across the foreground, entering frame from the lower left corner and stretching upwards to the right. Along the curb, 2 carts laden with produce sit at left and center. The leftmost cart is in partial view and contains fruit. Its proprietor sits in front and to the right of it. He sits on a chunk of wooden beam and reads the newspaper. Behind him, the cart at center contains a variety of nuts. Its signage reads, "HOT PEANUTS.. 10¢/bag SALTED PEANUTS 10¢/bag SUGAR PEANUTS 10¢/bag CASHEW NUTS . 10¢ bag PISTACHIO NUTS 10 ¢ bag INDIAN NUTS.. 10¢ bag." Its proprietor stands in front of the cart, at center, and faces towards the left. A chair sits off to the right side of the cart. Behind the carts, street traffic travels down the street and to the left. On the far side of the street, buildings stand adjacent to one another, extending beyond the top frame as they occupy the background. From left to right, signage on the buildings reads, "[...]ARE PHARMACY Coca-Cola," "3 LEATHER C.HOROWITZ WHOLESALE & RETAIL FINDINGS 5," "CHAS HOROWITZ & SONS LEATHER," "C.HOROWITZ & SONS LEATHER," and "CHINESE TEMPLE."
