Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Hebard West working on the lawn of the McDonald residence on San Jose Avenue in Burbank. The front lawn of the McDonald home is viewed from the side. The front of the house enters frame at left and recedes back. It is covered in greenery. Off-center to the right, the front lawn enters frame from the bottom edge and slopes downward from the front house at left towards the right. The lawn is neatly manicured. From the center of the bottom edge, the photographer's shadow enters frame and is cast upon the lawn. At the back edge of the lawn, Hebard West stands at center. He faces left while holding lawn care equipment. Behind and to the right of him, the lawn's boundaries to a driveway and San Jose Avenue are lined by hedges and stones. In the distance at right, San Jose Avenue enters frame and stretches back towards center. Trees line the near parkway. A neighbor's house stands behind the McDonald house at left and the top of a mountain is visible in the far distance at left. A large, opaque white streak occupies the lower right corner and thins as it stretches upwards along the right edge. Text from negative sleeve: 2378. Burbank, Cal.
