Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of a large crowd gathered at the end of the wharf in Avalon to greet arriving visitors to Catalina Island. A man stands in partial view in the foreground along the left edge. Beyond him, a wide, open plaza stretches across the image and back through center. A crowd lines the right edge of the plaza. At the far end of the plaza, several arriving visitors walk in a group towards the camera. A policeman walks ahead of them and to the left. Behind the group and to the left, more crowds line the back edge of the plaza. In the background, an arched gateway stands behind the group at center and a large ship's funnel rises behind the crowd at right. Text from negative sleeve: 2396.
