An out-of-focus photograph of passengers walking up a gangplank to board a ship docked in Avalon. The pier stretches across the bottom edge on an angle back towards the right, occupying the foreground and mid-ground. From the middle of the right edge, the gangplank enters frame and inclines towards the left corner, hovering over the pier. Across the side of the gangplank, it reads, "SANTA CATALINA." Several passengers walk up the gangplank. A portion of the ship is visible beneath the gangplank and along the left side of the pier. The upper decks of the ship are obscured from view by the boarding passengers.
