J. B. T. Campbell is Mrs. John Bayard Taylor Campbell, or Florence F. Campbell.
"A. Richman" on the negative sleeve is most likely an error and should be "Franklin I. Richman," regent of the Mayflower Society.
From left to right: Leonard Hilborne, Rosamond Coyner, Douglas Badt, Leonard Hoffman, A. Richman, J. B. T. Campbell, Clem S. Glass, Warren L. Strickland. Hilborne holds a book; Coyner and Badt hold their trophies. Hoffman and Richman hold the first place trophy in their hands, as if Richman is passing the trophy to Hoffman. They stand in front of Los Angeles High School. Unidentified people mill around behind them.
The Mayflower Society, Los Angeles County Chapter, are descendants of passengers on the Mayflower. They sponsored an annual oratorical contest for Los Angeles High School. The second annual oratorical contest was held March 26, 1936.
