Description
This beautiful tea gown from the House of Worth, Paris, illustrates the impact of international trade. Charles Frederick Worth was known for his use of lavish fabrics and trimmings and he was a major figure in the world of haute couture in the late 1800s. Costumes such as this one were not inexpensive by any means, but could be had by anyone in any part of the world willing to pay the price due to the global trading network.
