"Tom", 6-year-old cat that found its way from St. Petersburg to San Gabriel, 3000 miles
Mrs. Elizabeth Smith.
Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Richardson. Date: 1951-08-14. Reporter: Swaim. Assignment: Cross country tom cat. (Special -- See Richardson). K15: Pat Smith, 15 months, with 'Tom' cat, 6-year-old cat whichPat's parents claim found its way to them in San Gabriel after 3000 mile, 2-year trip from St. Petersburg, Florida. K16: Mrs. Elizabeth Smith introducing 'Tom' to fish bowl as part of test. Tom turned up nose at raw fish, same as original Tom. Snapshot is of Mrs. Elizabeth Smith with 'Tom' in Florida before Smith's left there for California in July 1949".
