The club, opened in 1930, was the second location for Rainbow Angling Fisheries, which originated in the Redlands area. This popular fishing spot, which included a restaurant, was in existence until 1964, when a fire destroyed the club building. In the early 1980s, a somewhat unsuccessful redevelopment condominium project was designed specifically to revive the lake. Angler Andre Rouseyrol (center of image, in the shade) tries his luck near the cascading waterfall at the Rainbow Angling Club, located at 555 E. 10th Street in Azusa. The man-made rock ledges make the waterfall, placed at the mouth of an actual canyon, appear natural. From the canyon 20,000 gallons of cold mountain water flow each minute to keep the lake full at all times.
