Photograph facing north on South Hill Street at Fifth Street towards the Metroplitan Water District building (?) in Downtown Los Angeles. Pershing Square is directly to the south of the building, and the National Bank of Commerce and the Subway Terminal Building are to the north. Signs in the Water District window advertise an exhibition of the Colorado River and the making of the California Aqueduct. "Title Guarantee Building, northwest corner West Fifth and Hill Streets, which has just been purchased by The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States. As soon as conditions permit The Equitable's departments serving Los Angeles will be housed there." -- typed note attached to verso, dated 1 December 1943. Streetscape. Horizontal photography.
