In the foreground is 4th Street being cut through Bunker Hill in its redevelopment program. In the background is Union Bank, a 42-story office building, which is a late example of the modern movement. It was designed by Albert C. Martin and built in 1967. It is a typical example of the late 60s Corporate International Style Modern. The building is a vertical box set on a low podium. It is notable for being the first highrise in central Los Angeles since the 1920s.
