Description
Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1889-1989
Indoor tennis at the Pan-Pacific Auditorium, located at 7600 Beverly Boulevard, where players learned to be wary of the overhanging clock at center court. Designed by architects Welton-Becket, Walter Wurdeman and Charles Plummer, the Pan-Pacific opened in 1935 and hosted all types of sporting events. Fire destroyed the building in 1989.
