Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated November 14, 1960 reads, "Mr. and Mrs. Lee Broome of North Hollywood were a six telephone family for a while Sunday. Their son Rondal, 12, brought home a phone from the Tujunga Wash, where he had been playing. Not only had he found one phone in a bag at the Wash, near Sherman Way, Rondal said. But there were plenty more where this came from. Mr. and Mrs. Broome, 7631 Westland Ave., realized that the phones did not belong in the wash, and they explained to Rondal that the phones did not belong to him either. At the North Hollywood Police Station officers listened to Rondal's story, then tracked down the rest of the loot with him. A man was recently arrested in 25 cases of telephone theft, police said, and this evidence was linked to him. At the station, Rondal was given hot chocolate, shown how fingerprints are removed and presented with a formal letter, praising his 'keen observation and native curiosity.'"
