Description
“British war cemetery at Karonga N. Nyasaland [Malawi]. Memorials in local stone & native craftsmanship. D. Adamson.” Exterior view of a walled plot of land with six graves marked. Karonga was situated in northern Nyasaland near the border with German East Africa. The stone cutters may have come from Livingstonia where the Overtoun training institution was based. The graves were moved in 1933 when the cemetery was permanently flooded by Lake Nyasa.
