A Mayan man fills out his ballot on election day at a polling place in Nahualá. He is wearing a hat and colorful clothing. Standing in the background are many more men waiting to vote. The government required every literate person over the age of eighteen to vote or pay a fine. They were told that they would be killed if they did not vote. Groups of Mayan men started lining up to vote at five in the morning. Un hombre maya llena su boleta el día de las elecciones en un lugar de votación en Nahualá. El lleva un sombrero y ropa colorida. Parados detrás de él se observan a muchos mas hombres esperando votar. El gobierno exigió que todas las personas alfabetizadas mayores de dieciocho años votaran o pagarían una multa. Se les dijo que los matarían si no votaban. Grupos de hombres mayas comenzaron a formarse para votar a las cinco de la mañana.
