Photo of four entertainers on stilts at the Samson Tire and Rubber Company building, now called "The Citadel", with a Christmas tree in the background. Originally an industrial office and manufacturing plant founded by Adolf Schleicher in 1918, the building was re-built between 1929-30 as a walled Babylonian (or Assyrian) city; modeled after famous ziggurats and fortified walls of the ancient city of Khorsabad. Priest-Kings and other creatures adorn the walls. The Citadel Outlets, L.A.'s first factory outlet center, opened in 1990. It launched a grand re-opening in 2005, and it is home to approximately 85 brand-name outlet stores. It is located at 5675 Telegraph Road, in the City of Commerce. Architects: Morgan, Walls and Clements. Photograph dated November 12, 2005.
