Photograph caption dated May 24, 1954 reads "Mrs. Sam Thomas, poppy chairman of American Legion Post 150 Auxiliary, presents community's first poppy to Mayor Carl King of Burbank. Mayor King proclaimed May 28 and 29 as city's Poppy Days. Members of Auxiliary will distribute poppies on streets those days."
