Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Gaze. Date: 1952-01-11. Reporter: Gaze. Assignment: Students wash autos. #27-28-42: Members of the Santa Monica City College chapter of Alpha Gamma Sigma honor society begin job of washing cars for students and faculty to raise funds to aid a Navajo Indian youth through high school. Project started 1 1/2 years ago. The chapter, through a car wash project and cake sale each semester, is providing the unnamed student in Phoenix, Arizona, with $100 annually".
