"Bill" Bratton was appointed 54th Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department in October 2002, by then-Mayor James Hahn. Chief Bratton oversees the third largest police department in the United States; managing 9,300 sworn officers and 3,000 civilian employees. He is the former Commissioner of NYPD (1994-1996), as well as former Commissioner of Boston PD (1993-1994). His wife, Rikki Klieman, is a best-selling author, actor, trial attorney, legal analyst, and Court TV Network anchor. Mrs. Bratton (Klieman) was named one of the five most outstanding women trial lawyers in the country by Time magazine in 1983. Photo dated: July 12, 2005.
