At the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, known simply as FIDM, students Andra Freitas, Kara Streeter and Carol Galaviz, take a study break between classes. FIDM is a specialized, private, degree-granting college dedicated to educating students for the fashion, graphics, interior design, and entertainment industries. It consists of 5,500 full-time students, 250 faculty members and has 4 California campuses. The main campus, founded in downtown Los Angeles in 1969, is an 180,000 square-foot campus located in the 4-acre Grand Hope Park, and is in close proximity to the Garment District, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the International Jewelry Center.
