Description
Photograph caption dated August 22, 1964 reads, "Members of the Valley branch of the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aged prepare for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which begins at sundown, Sept. 6. Rehearsing the traditional Orthodox ceremonies, are from left, Jacob Gitlin, 82, who blows the Shofar, or ram's horn, and Eugene Nelso, 86, who holds the sacred Torah. The period ends Sept. 16."
