Photograph of a distant view of the Bass Ferry halfway across the relatively calm water of the Colorado River, Grand Canyon, ca.1900-1930. Two mules or horses stand on the sandy embankment from where the small ferry launched. Two people are visible in the ferry which is propelled by rowing. The adjacent banks are steep and jagged with rocks. The canyon wall looms above and is dotted with trees and brush as it rises to the canyon rim at top.
