Photograph caption dated April 14, 1987 reads, "County lifeguards towed the crashed plane which was in the water about 500 yards in the Pacific just west of Pepperdine, Malibu. From there boats towed the plane (submerged) to the Malibu Pier where it was pulled out of the water with this front end loader."
