Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Brunk. Date: 06-30. Reporter: Parker. Assignment: Firemen rookies. 61: Capt. Ollie Howard, drillmaster on 50-foot Bangor ladder raised in thin air by 6 rookies. He trusts them and it's the first time they've raised it. 62: 7 rookies climb up 85' tower, their backs parallel to tower in approved fashion -- makes for easier climbing. 63: John Brewer lifeline, when firemen trapped, gently gun to trapped man, & he kicks clear and swings out.
