Photograph of people strolling down the esplanade at Newport Beach, ca.1905. Four women at center can be seen walking down the esplanade carrying food baskets(?). They are wearing long dresses and fancy hats. Stores and other businesses can be seen at right along the esplanade. People can be seen moving in and out of these one-story buildings. Further down the shoreline is a pier. Ripples of small waves crash onto the shore at left. The sandy beach around the esplanade and the shops is littered with tiny debris, such as rocks, wood, and seashells(?). Legible signs include: "El Verano, The Stor...", "Santa Ana, Steam Laundry Co., Agency", "Fred L. Mit...", "Furnished, Lodging..., Mrs. E... Haw...". Caption reads: "Strolling down the esplanade at Newport Beach."
