Description
Asa (Ace) Smith, with Prince--his Palomino--on a firebreak just above Cuthbert Road. Zuma Beach is on the top right. The large white building on the beach was the 'Zuma Cafe.' The Trancas Riders and Ropers met for the first time there in 1952. This photo was taken in the fall of 1952. Percy Meek, Mildred Decker's father, was our first president of the Riding Club. Our home in the photo is the large white house behind the horse in this photo. The two and a half acres is outlined with the white post fence to the right of the house, ending at Prince's ears. In the center is Point Dume. The Pacific Coast Highway is located just above Dad's hat in the dark-deep canyons. This new building just in the lower back of Prince is the Williamson home. Scotty owned a body shop in Santa Monica, then later in Westlake Village. He and his daughters Cathy and Jane raised Arabian horses. Their property is located on Cuthbert Road. Straight behind Asa to the far left is Harvester Road, which continues west in front of our home (29417 Harvester Road). The Malibu home today is owned by [a well-known rock musician].
