Historical reconstitution of the arrival of Fao, an evangelist, on Lifou in 1842 : Fao explaining his religion to the chief's messenger, in front of the church of Chepenehe Fao was the first Polynesian evangelist. He unloaded on Lifou island in 1842. This role is played by Willy Haeweng, Director of the school of Havila. Comment : Photograph taken during the Assembly of Pacific Conference of Churches in Chepenehe, Lifou, from May 25th till June 7th, 1966.
