Description
Fire Chief Robert Osby appearing at a High Tech Gays meeting after making disparaging remarks against homosexuals.
"A BAYMEC-sponsored training class on gay and lesbian lifestyles will be conducted for San Jose Fire Department battalion chiefs and commanders on April 4. The...training course was a result of numberous meetings between BAYMEC and Fire Chief Robert Osby. ...BAYMEC came to believe that Osby was not anti-gay." High Tech Gays was a social organization that met in San Jose from 1984-1998. The organization disbanded in 1998. See Ted Sahl, "From Closet to Community," (2002), pp. 166-167.
