Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Gaze. Date: 1954-09-18. Reporter: Gaze. Assignment: Millionaire picket. #1: Mrs. Marie Mathews (right) on picket line at West Los Angeles plant, a welder and housewife, also is a millionaire. She just has been notified that she is the sole heir to her uncle's estate valued in excess of $6,000,000. She's still picketing, however, until she and fellow workers get the higher wages they seek. We are to pay Lew Nichols, 410 Wilshire, Santa Monica, $10 if used."
