Photograph of a flock of sheep owned by Navajo Indians, in the evening, ca. 1900. The flock of about 50 sheep, including males, females, and kids, graze and lay on a gentle slope. The males lay higher up on the slope, while one horned male -- silhouetted against the cloudy darkling sky -- seems to stand guard.
