Description
Photographic portrait of Juan Largo and Jonathan Trumbull Warner with a group of mission Indians, Christmas 1875. The photograph, taken (?) by Edward Vischer as a gift to his friend William H. Hellton, shows ten posed in three rows. Most of the men are Native Americans, however, one man, the second from the left in the back row, is a Caucasian man with a thick head of hair and a long beard. He wears a suit. The foremost row is constituted of only one man, who lays on his side with his hat in hand. Four men follow in the next row, all dressed in similar lightly colored shirts, the third from the left with a mustache that connects to his sideburns. Of the men in the back row, the third from the left wears a checkered shirt and folds his arms across his chest. The rest hold their hands at their sides, folded near their waist or behind their back. Picture file card reads "Wm. H. Hellton from his friend Edward Vischer.".
