Photograph caption dated August 3, 1963 reads, "Helmeted safety patrol volunteers James Quinn, 29, left, and Morton Polack, 31, both of Woodland Hills, give aid to Fay Beaupre, 24, also of Woodland Hills, who poses as a stranded motorist on the Ventura Freeway. Quinn and Polack are co-chairmen of the safety patrol project sponsored by the Woodland Hills Chamber of Commerce. The patrol will operate on the freeway from Mulholland Dr. to Victory Blvd. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during weekends and some holidays. Equipment carried by the unit includes a speed check instrument for passing motorists, first aid supplies, a jack, free gasoline, fire extinguisher and an oxygen supply."
