Photograph caption dated June 16, 1953 reads, "Arms of Joshua Trees burned in the desert after a fire raged through Angeles National Forest." There were three fires burning simultaneously; one was in Big Rock Canyon (the one referred to in caption), Reche Canyon between Riverside and Redlands, and one near Warner Hot Springs. More than 3,300 acres burned.
